INDECENT ASSAULT.
A middle-aged man named Paul Borland, [39], pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecently assaulting a boy named [Harold] Hayoe, at Bobadah, on October 19th.
Mr NG Pilcher of Sydney, instructed by Mr WF McManamey, defended the accused.
The nature of the evidence precludes us from publishing same, but the offence was alleged to have been committed in a building near the boy’s father’s hotel. For the defence it was alleged that there was no indecency, the accused in his evidence stating that the whole thing was a ‘lark.’
The jury returned a verdict of not guilty, and Borland was discharged. This ended the Quarter Sessions.

CHEAPER BRICKS.
———
THE Minister for Works , Mr AH Griffith, is pushing on with the work of establishing the State Brick making yards. He had made full enquiries, and is sure he could make burnt bricks less than 25s per thousand, as against something like £3 charged at present, and the best sand-lime bricks, which, according to German authorities, are the best bricks in the world, at under £1 per thousand. Most of the hostile criticism, said Mr Griffith, was coming from interested parties, and was unconvincing.

ACQUITTAL IN THE NYMAGEE CASE.
Paul Borland was charged with having committed an indecent assault on a boy named Harold Hayoe at Bobadah on the 19th October.
Accused pleaded not guilty, and Mr NG Pilcher (instructed by Mr WF McManamey) appeared for the defence.
Mr bevan opened the case for the Crown, and called evidence.
Harold Hayoe, a lad aged 10, was questioned by his Honor as to his knowledge of the truth, and was then sworn. He deposed that accused came to witness’s father’s house in the evening, and he had gone to bed when the accused entered his room. He detailed the offence.
Robert Hayoe, licensee of the hotel at Bobadah, deposed to finding the accused in the boy’s bedroom.
Constable Campbell deposed to arresting the accused at a place 30 miles from Bobadah. Accused stated that he was only having a lark.
This was the Crown case.
Mr Pilcher asked his Honor to rule that evidence of the boy was not corroborated on the material point of intent, by other evidence.
His Honor held that the boy’s evidence was materially corroborated. His Honor said he would reserve the point.
Mr Pilcher called the accused, who gave evidence.
Counsel then addressed the jury, his Honor summed up, and the jury retired.
The jury returned just before 6 o’clock with a verdict of not guilty, and the accused was discharged.
