ORANGE QUARTER
SESSIONS.
———◦———
The February sittings of the Orange sessions took place yesterday, when five person were arraigned on various charges. His Honor Judge Scholes presided, and Mr J Flannery acted as Crown Prosecutor.
…
A SORDID CASE.
Percy Bennett [aka Percy Bennet], a young fellow apparently about 20 years of age, and a rabbitter by occupation, pleaded not guilty to indecently assaulting a boy, [William John Felstead], seven years of age at Blayney on December 10th. Mr LA Lane defended him, and the following jury was empanelled:—Wm C Paton, Thomas Lawry, John Eslick, Walter H Rauchley, James T Bartle, Henry C Adams, John N Griffith, Joseph S Mayne, Chas E Miller, Chas J Macatamney, Thos B Hill, and Henry W Larance (foreman).
The evidence was quite unfit for publication, and at its close the jury, in the absence of sworn corroboration of the child’s story, returned a verdict of not guilty.
