MURDER VERDICT.
———◦———
Gunman’s Death.
——
MAROUBRA SHOOTING AFFRAY.
——

“I find that James Edward Devine did feloniously and maliciously murder George Leonard Gaffney” was the decision of the City Coroner (Mr May) at the conclusion of yesterday’s inquest on George Leonard Gaffney, known as “Gunman” Gaffney, who was killed in a gang fight at Maroubra on the night of July 18.

Sydney George McDonald detailed the movements of Devine on the day of the shooting. He and Green, both of whom lived with the Devines at Maroubra, were assaulted earlier in the day, and Green was shot. He described the attack at night, and how Gaffney was shot.

Other witnesses, including the wife of the accused man, gave similar evidence.

Mr May released Devine on bail under the same conditions as previously, but added a condition that Devine should report to the Daceyville police three times each week.
