DESERVED

CHARLES EDWARD BRIGHTLING, aged 43, a carpenter, was given a terrible reputation by PC Livingston Parmeter when he came up for sentence on a revolting charge at the Darlinghurst Quarter Sessions, before Judge Cohen last week.

His Honor: Without leaving the box, the jury found you guilty, and I quite agree with their verdict. It was disgusting offence you committed, and, maybe, it will mean the absolute ruin of your victim. I sentence you to four years’ penal servitude I [sic]

on a similar charge, to which he pleaded not guilty, Brightling was remanded to his former custody.
