TALE OF DEPRAVITY
———◦———
An unsavory [sic] case engaged the attention of judge and jury at the Parramatta Quarter Sessions on Tuesday, when Hugh Gordon Walker , age 40, was charged with having committed an indecent offence at Parramatta on October 31.

In a statement from the dock, the accused said that he served for four years at the war. As the result of was injury, he was now a cripple.
“I am forty years of age,” he said, “and have never been before a police court in my life. I have been good to these boys—that’s all I can say.”
Evidence of Walker’s good character was given by Rev J Paterson and Mr EK Bowden, MHR.
The jury found the accused not guilty.
There being other charges of a similar nature against him, Walker was bound over, to appear at the next Sessions.
