NEWCASTLE POLICE COURT.
————
WEDNESDAY, JAN 21, 1879.
————
(Before Lieut.–Col Maunsell, PM.)

…
John Sullivan, a seaman, was charged with assaulting one Mans Johnston, at Newcastle, on the 21st instant. Pleaded guilty, and bound over to keep the peace for six months,—one surety in £50, and two in £25 each, or go to gaol for three months.

UNNATURAL OFFENCE.—John Sullivan was then charged with having committed an unnatural offence upon a boy named Robert Hall, at Minchen’s boarding house, at Newcastle on 19th instant. The evidence is unfit for publication, but the bench considered the case clearly proved, and committed defendant to take his trial at the Quarter Sessions to be held at Maitland in March next. The same prisoner was then charged with committing a similar offence upon another lad named James Little, on Saturday morning last, at Minchen’s boarding house, at Scott street. The bench considered the evidence insufficient, and discharged prisoner. The Court then rose.
