CENTRAL POLICE COURT.
Mr Dillon, SM, presided on the bench in the Central Police Charge Court yesterday.
A number of cases of drunkenness were dealt with.
Eliza Willis, aged 21 years, on a charge of having disobeyed a summons for using bad language, was fined £5, or in default, imprisonment for 3 months.
John Chard, on a charge of indecent behaviour was sentenced to be imprisoned for six months, with hard labour.
Mary Todman, on a charge of having insufficient lawful means of support, was sentenced to be imprisoned for three months.
Pierre Leylume was charged with having uttered a £1 note on the Commercial Bank to William Aris. The accused on the 15th instant went into the shop of the prosecutor at Brickfield-hill and bought some articles, and tendered in payment what was apparently a £1 note, which the prosecutor at once detected to be a forgery. The accused said his master had given it to him. The note was on the Commercial Bank. When arrested another forged note was found in his possession. He was committed to take his trial at the next Quarter Sessions.
