BEGA QUARTER SESSIONS.

On Tuesday and Wednesday 2nd and
3rd October, 1897.
————
(Before His Honor Judge Fitzhardinge.)

…
WR JEFFREY on bail, was charged with an unnatural offence, [indecent assault on Aaron Farmer Fitch]. The following jury having been sworn, namely —J Hayden, M Jones, J Whiffen, R Kennedy, M Lonkhurst, RR McGregor, H Waterson, J Golden, J Keys junr, TJ Kelly, R Scott and JW Haywood, His Honor said that probably respectable people would not remain to listen to the evidence in this case, and he hoped they would all show respect for themselves by withdrawing from the court. The court was soon empty of all except those engaged in the case. Mr WP Crick came all the way from Sydney to defend the accused. The taking of evidence occupied the whole afternoon of Tuesday, and the jury retired for half an hour and brought in a verdict of not guilty.
