A YOUTH IN TROUBLE.

Charles Reschke, a youth, pleaded guilty at the Albury Police Court yesterday to charges of indecent exposure and indecent language on Jindera Road, on May 16. Major Wilkinson appeared for the accused, and pleaded for leniency on the grounds that Reschke was drunk at the time that the offences were committed, that he had previously borne a good character and that he (the accused) had since the date of the charges personally apologised to the persons insulted. On the indecency charge accused was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment, the sentence to be suspended under the First Offenders’ Act on accused entering into surety of £25 that he would be of good behaviour for 12 months. For using indecent language a fine of £3, with costs, or two months’ imprisonment was imposed.

…
A DRUNKEN FREAK.—A youth, [21], named Charles Reschke was presented on warrant at the [Albury] police court on Tuesday on charges indecent behaviour and using indecent language on the road from Albury to Jindera on 16th May. R Wilkinson addressed the Bench on behalf of the accused (who pleaded guilty to both charges), and said the strength of the case was that the young man was very drunk and had no recollection whatever of his actions on the occasion in question. He had personally apologised to the people at Black Range who had witnessed his behaviour. The young man had never been in trouble before, and the First Offenders’ Act might with justice be extended to him. Senior-sergeant Musgrave pointed out that it was a very serious matter. The PM sentenced accused to one month’s imprisonment on the charge of indecent behaviour, the sentence to be suspended on sureties being forthcoming for his good behaviour for 12 months; and on the charge of indecent language a fine of £3 (inclusive of 12/- court costs) was imposed, in default two months’ imprisonment.
