SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS AGAINST
A BAKER.
————

Mention was made some days since of certain allegations that had been made to the police by women who complained of the misconduct of a man in George-street, in open daylight. The man, Charles Mourilyan, 42, a baker, was arrested on the 17th instant by Traffic-constable Allen, and efforts were made to obtain the evidence of the women who had complained of having been insulted. These efforts were, however, futile, and to-day Mourilyan was brought before the Central Police Court and charged with having assaulted a female, whose name was unknown.

Constable Allen stated that he saw the accused approach the woman, and interfere with her. The woman complaint to witness, and he went after the accused, whom he saw deliberately interfere with three other women. When arrested, he denied everything.

Accused, who said he had been drinking on the date of the alleged offences, was committed for trial.
