NEWCASTLE POLICE COURT.
————

THE Police Magistrate, with Messrs S Chapman and David Ludlow, J’sP, presided at the Police Court yesterday; the cases being heard in the smaller court.
…
Moses Mitchell [aka Moses Smith], a negro, was charged with having unlawfully and obscenely exposed his person before a number of females. The case was partially heard with closed doors,  and evidence adduced from Sergeant Griffiths, Sarah Robinson, and Maggie Gardner. Their statements were unfit for publication, but were to the effect that the prisoner lodged at the City Wine Vaults, his bedroom at the back of which overlooked several yards and premises, and from the balcony of which the alleged indecency had been witnessed. The case appeared to be a gross one, and prisoner was committed for trial at the Maitland Quarter Sessions, on the 29th inst. Bail allowed, self in £40, and two sureties of £20 each.
